Lauren Leonardis
Occupational Therapist
Arlie is a second year Occupational Therapy student at UniSA. Arlie decided to pursue a career in
Occupational Therapy because she wanted to support people to improve their wellbeing and participate in meaningful activities. Arlie values collaborative problem solving and understands the importance of independence and empowerment for clients. She looks forward to working with our clients to help them achieve goals best suited to their unique needs, desires and strengths in their
daily activities.
Arlie has been working in the education sector for over four years. This experience has contributed to her appreciating the importance the physical and social environment has on a person’s wellbeing and participation in occupations. This experience has allowed her to strengthen her understanding of development across the lifespan, behavioural and emotional regulation, empathy, building
trusting relationships and equity service provision for people of all ages and backgrounds. As our Occupational Therapy Assistant, Arlie will provide support to the Occupational Therapists with case management, administering therapeutic programs and basic equipment set up and education.
Lauren is an Occupational Therapist with a strong commitment to supporting young children and their families to achieve meaningful developmental outcomes and build confidence in everyday occupations. She holds a clear appreciation for the critical role of early intervention and is dedicated to enabling children to develop the foundational skills required to participate successfully at home, within educational environments, and in the broader community.
Lauren practices from a child-centred, strengths-based framework, carefully integrating each child’s interests, abilities, and goals to deliver therapy that is both purposeful and engaging. She works in close partnership with families and multidisciplinary teams, recognising that consistent collaboration and clear communication between stakeholders are essential to achieving sustainable functional outcomes. Central to her approach is the development of strong therapeutic relationships, creating a safe and supportive environment in which children can explore, learn, and extend their skills with confidence.
Lauren also has an emerging interest in working with adolescents, particularly during periods of increased social, emotional, and functional complexity.
She aims to empower adolescents to take an active role in their therapy goals by providing them with the tools that will support their independence, participation in meaningful roles, and self-advocacy.
